[USA] Postdoctoral Position in Diabetes and Obesity Research, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine

Estrogen and androgen receptors actions in diabetes and obesity

Our laboratory is seeking a candidate for a post-doctoral position in a groundbreaking area of diabetes research. We focuse on identifying the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which sex hormones influence the risks of diabetes and obesity. The candidate will use genetic, molecular and physiological toolsto study mice with conditional knockouts of the estrogen or/and androgen receptors as well as cell culture models in highly controlled environments. The applicant will gain a full understanding of the biological processes at the root of obesity, insulin resistance, b-cell dysfunction and diabetes, and the ability to demonstrate that modulating sex steroid actions can have a therapeutic impact on these diseases.

The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D., M.D., will be self-motivated, show interest in diabetes research and will have significant experience in cell culture, standard biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Salary will be determined based on previous experience. Please send a statement of research interests and curriculum vitae, including the contact details of three references, to Franck Mauvais-Jarvis, MD, PhD, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Molecular Medicine, Northwestern University School of Medicine, 303 East Chicago Av. Tarry 15-761, Chicago IL 60611 or e-mail to f-mauvais-jarvis@northwestern.eduAdditional information: website
