MPhil Research Studentship
Designing for Participation in Media Rich Collaborative Communities
Interaction Design Lab (IDL)
£7500 stipend per year for two years. Fees waived
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity in the field of Strategic Interaction Design. Based in the University of Dundee’s School of Design, you will explore new ways of designing, promoting and supporting participation within multi-disciplinary collaborative communities.
Our project takes the emergent multidisciplinary collaborative community of the Interaction Design Lab (IDL) at the University of Dundee as the central ‘real-world’ domain of study.
The challenge such communities face is how to support and promote participation within complex spatial, temporal, socio-cultural and technological constraints. This requires a far richer understanding of the mechanisms and processes that underpin them.
This would ideally suit someone with a first degree (2.1 or above) in a design related discipline, such as interaction design or interactive media design though applicants from other backgrounds will be considered. You must be an excellent communicator, with an interest in the strategic aspects of design and be able to demonstrate the commitment and aptitude required for postgraduate research.
