PhD position Agrotechnology & Food Science Group (Gelderland), 38 hours per week
Job description
We are offering a PhD research project on the properties and behaviour of novel, protein-inspired biopolymers with block structure: self-assembly, micellization, gel formation, conformations etc. as a function of physicochemical parameters. The polymers are biosynthesized through fermentation by gmo’s (yeasts) containing a de novo constructed gene encoding for the desired product.
Requirements
Required education/skills:University Graduate Highly motivated to work on a PhD thesis. A Masters degree with sufficient attention to physical chemistry, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, biochemistry, or experimental physics; a general knowledge of biopolymers and some knowledge of molecular biology is a must. Knowledge of scientific English and the ability to express yourself clearly both in writing and orally is necessary.

Conditions of employment
Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 2000 - 2500
Maximum salary amount in Euro’s a month 2472
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 3 years
Maximum hours per week: 38
Additional conditions of employment: A PhD contract for 1 year and a working week of 38 hours (full time). After a positive evaluation of the first year an extension of the contract with 3 years is given. Salary: from € 1.933,- in the first year to € 2.472,- in the last year, based on full time employment.
